Sony has just confirmed that a "future platform" is in the works to follow the PlayStation 3!
Sony's executive vice president and chief financial officer Masaru Kato made the announcement today in conference call to investors. When asked to explain increased research and development costs, he answered, saying:

Kato's comments come at exact opposites with Sony Computer Entertainment boss, Kaz Hirai's. Back in March, Hirai said, "a near-future PS4 or next-generation home console is not something that we are even debating now." Hirai then went on to stress that Sony wasn't "even at the half-way point" in PS3's lauded 10-year plan.
The current console cycle is definitely longer than previous ones, but with the Wii 2 (aka Project Cafe) expected to be unveiled soon at E3, and rumors of top-tier publishing partners receiving prototype dev kits of Microsoft's new Xbox, that may just be the end of this cycle, and the beginning of the next gen consoles!

unlike some people i am not interested in the ps4 yet.. because i am still interested in playing my ps3

i prefer ps3 because of the controller.
xbox is less laggy

if u have to pay online for ps4
i think xbox is going to win
due to all the effort microsoft has put in to get customers exclusive stuff before ps3 it will be interesting..
i would prefer to wait untill they are both released so i could compare between them both
instead of which ever 1 comes out 1st....
ohh and ive heard the new ps4 console will make u have awhole new experience..
which it would possibly be a built in 3d ps4 console.
if it is then DAMNN PS4 ALL THE WAY :tits:

I don't think the PS3 update will be that great, I think that the whole platform needs to be changed around to re up its rep from the recent ongoing attacks.
they are loosin' and have lost business and they need to do something big. Not a few layout changes and a few features. A total revamp!
