(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); You dont need to do all this opening the PS3 and taking a risk of ruining it even more. Here is what you do:

1. Get a hairdryer and put it on cold blow. Smile
2. Unplug your PS3 from every cord and put it in front of you.
3. Now turn your PS3 so the vent on the back on PS3( the holes ) are facing you.
4. Now take the hairdryer and put the face of the hairdryer on top of the vents.
5. Now turn the hairdryer on and move it up and down along the vent for 5 mis.
6. Once you've done that you put your PS3 in front of a fan and leave it there for about 10 mins.
7. After you've done that, leave your PS3 alone for about 24 hrs.
8. Once you've waited, turn on your ps3 and there you go!

Hope this helped!!!!!!!!!

Rep+ if this actually worked Upside Down Happy

If this fixes your PS3 it's because you have to much dust on the inside. It can also be fixed if you take a vacuum cleaner and use the hose with the brush attachment on it. This is actually stated in your PS3's manual which apparently no one reads anymore.

I done this with a hairdryer but it was on heat setting and blowed back of my ps3 for 15 mins. Then held mini-fan around back of PS3 for over 20 mins until I felt almost none heat on the PS3. I started playing my PS3 that same day at night and after a FEW HOURS it broke again with YLOD. I turned it on again, it lasted a few seconds then shut down with YLOD.

^This was before my PS3 was fixed by someone doing the heat gun with thermal compound paste method. After I got my PS3 back from the person who did that, my PS3 broke again a few days later with YLOD.

My question is this: How long do you think the method for fixing YLOD in this thread will keep a PS3 running for on average.

shiver
chaos personified
Hair dryers do not get up to the necessary temperature to properly melt the solder balls underneath the cpu/gpu.

Proper way to fix it is bring it to a professional who can reflow both chips for you for about $35-$75
