Here is another way to do it. If YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THIS METHOD TELL ME ILL HELP THE BEST I CAN THIS SHOULD WORK. I HAVE TESTED ON MULTIPLE CONSOLES. put your real hdd in the system and go into the system restore menu (hold power until turns on and off, then hold again until two beeps) then have nothing else in your console usb wise and then go to system update and press start and select then change your hdd and let it go for a couple of seconds.. then shut the system off and turn it on again with the new hdd still in it and the hdd will work!!
hdd seagate - toshiba now
firmware 3.41 - 3.55 now
60gb - 500 gb now [/COLOR]
AND UR DONE

Ok my 60GB orginal PHAT Ps3 YLD after 3.61. Kept my 320GB, got refurb from Sony updated that to 3.61 (im sure this firmware killed my original)
Followed the last video step by step, but ps3 starts looks like its gonna work then asks to format the drive?
Any ideas what I may be doing wrong?? desperate to get back a video of my daughter when she was just two....:shh:

So does this mean that I can take my 3.61 console's HDD and put in my 3.55 and then change the patches and then put it back in my 3.61?? If this is true then this is way faster than data transfer utility

i was hoping that this works so that i can switch my 60gig to my 80gig which was in my cfw ps3
i updated it to 3.61 then deactivated my psn account from that ps3 before throwing it in the bin
i just dont want to **** up my system now trying to put the 80gig in
