(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Just curious what people's temperatures were on their PS3. I got in an argument with some guy the other day because I told him not to spread thermal paste as it creates air bubbles. Granted his temps were 72c/82c and his ps3 sounded like a jet engine, he was most likely on an older model PS3.

Model number? CECH-2501A (40nm RSX)
Idle temps? 48c/48c
In game? 55c/57c
Fresh thermal paste? Arctic silver 5, pea sized dot on the rsx and cpu, let the pressure of the heatsink spread it.
Fan speed? 36%

At least I can fight
Mines always at 48-54 after being in for a while and once it gets above 56 the fan turns on real loud for about 5 mins then the temp drops to 48-49 and good again for multiple hrs again. I spread my thermal paste but only by the spreading of applying not spreading with an old credit card or whatever ppl use.

I'm on a fat CECHK02 running at 75°. It's always ran like it since day one so I'm not bothered about the high temp.

Good question lol he must have it set at 50° so the fan turns on. If he doesn't then he's gotta have a case fan mod. Or maybe he is an enthusiast who put his ps3 components in a make shift pc case so he could liquid cool the bitch . Those temps tho. Idle I'm at 45° and fans come on at 65°.

Mine is generally 60C gpu 70C cpu on either idle or gameplay but the thermal paste has never been changed under the IHS. My ps3 runs hotter as it is the 60GB backwards compatible model.
I regulate the fan to a louder speed to bring temps down to 50C GPU 60C CPU.
I would spread the thermal paste a little bit (only a small amount) and then put a circle dot size of thermal paste in the middle of both chipsets so when you enclose the heatsink, the air pockets will no longer be imminent.
