(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Last year something happened to my PC and now it doesn't let me log on. When I start up my PC everything looks normal, then the "Windows" loading bar comes up and after that it usually takes me to the login/password screen, but ever since something went wrong it just takes me to a black screen. I've left the black screen on for a while to see if it changes, but it doesn't. I've tried doing the system recovery thing but that just takes me to a blue screen and it doesn't change, no writing or anything comes up. It all started when the PC was about to do an update when i was shutting it down. I was tired and switched it off before the update finished.
So I was just wondering if anyone knows what happened to my PC or if anyone has a solution to fix it.

Thanks.

Try this..!

Open up the Microsoft Management Console by pressing the windows key +
R to bring up the run dialog, enter "mmc" into the box.

You'll be prompted by UAC to continue. Click "Continue". From the
management console main menu, select "File" then "Add/Remove Snap-in".
Locate the "Group Policy Object" and click the "Add" button.

Another dialog will appear. Just click the "Finish" button and then
"OK".

The console root in the left side will now show a "Local Computer"
option. Expand this, then "Computer Configuration" then "Windows
Settings" then "Security Settings" then "Local Policies" then click on
"Security Options.

Once you have clicked the "Security Options" icon, the right pane will
show a whole bunch of options. Scroll to the bottom until you find the
one named "User Account Control: Switch to the secure desktop when
prompting for elevation". Double-click it.

Change it to "Disabled" and then click "OK". You can now exit the
management console and you will no longer get that black screen when UAC
prompts you to do something. In my case it means that when I log into my
user account I get a regular desktop instead of the black screen of
death! It's kind of odd that this is what was causing the issue but I'm
glad it has fixed it.

also I'll be back Saturday/Sunday so if you haven't found a solution ill keep trying :P Smile

I'll try that, thanks.

Edit: It says they got the "Black screen of death" after they logged in, I can't get onto the login/password screen lol, the black screen appears before that. Anyways i'll give it a try.
