I thought that the PS3 hacking scene was due for a mod-chip since the whole system has been comprimised, I can see them becoming some what like a JTAG on an XBOX though, that's what CFW is going to become like (I think)

Apparently it's software based from what gathered. There are still loopholes in the security even though the EDCSA bug has been fixed.
