What do you think Earth would be like without religion?

Well walking a few days ago me and my friend stumbled upon an argument. What would the world be like without religion? He said there would be more crime and etc. Although people don't commit crime because their religion says not to. They do it because of laws. To put it bluntly if you commit a crime you go to jail. I said that there would be less controversy and fighting over which religion is right and blah blah blah, and that we would come together as people and have more technological advances. I look at it like this. No religion=Star Wars on Earth. He looks as it as. No religion=More Crime on Earth.

Without religion science would have progressed much much further, to the extent one could argue disease would seem a thing of the past, space colonization wouldn't be ludicrous.

The world would be a much better place, science would have definitely progressed way beyond what it is now and honestly, less wars would have been fought. Religion brings war, but it also brings hope to those who believe in it, so I dont see it going away any time soon because of all the people brainwashed by it already.

I think that there would be much much much less war but much more vandalism because people would have less morals and no one to follow as a leader.

Religion is not what causes war. Its the people that interpret their religion wrongly. Relgion doesn't start wars. People do.
