Post: I don't see a point to prestiging more than once. Do you?

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Here's my long expansive post where I debate some pros and cons of prestiging from my point of view.

I prestiged once and am level 80. I don't think I'll be doing it again. How are people already 10th? I see people in lobbies that are in the top 100 in the world. I mean I'm in the top 50,000 with 2 days of play time. If I don't play for a week, I drop 20,000 ranks. So how do these people have time to play everyday for hours on end?

I'll say 50% of high prestigers camp so hard in games. I mean, is that the way? That doesn't take skill. So does that mean prestige ≠ skill? If so, what's the point? I am always in the top 3 in the lobby, routinely getting 3,000+ points in Kill Confirmed.

I see both sides of the argument. Here are the points I am debating.

-You get a cool symbol.
I like the symbols, but frankly it doesn't matter to me. The only cool ones are above 5, and to me that's a waste of time. Could be different for you, I have better things to do. I already established that prestige ≠ skill. What you do in a game and your stats = skill. Prestiging gives neither.

-You get exclusive titles and emblems.
I do like the prestige packs, but they're not worth prestiging to get. The spinning skull doesn't even spin. I did buy the first pack which gave me the COD4 10th emblem, my favorite one. If you prestige once, you can get all those gold killstreak titles and emblems. You can get any of the Prestige Challenges completed.

-5 custom classes isn't enough.
I think it's definitely isn't enough. I can't think of any other guns I'd want to use. Currently, I have these classes:

Type 95 Rapid Fire and RDS. I go tryhard with this class.
Striker Extended Mags and Damage proficiency. I'm the person you all hate with this.
ACR Silenced with Impact. It's the perfect all around gun. It gets me high killstreaks.
MP7 Rapid Fire. This is my run-n-gun class. I use it when I rush.
MSR Heartbeat. This is my quickscope and sniping class.

I use all my favorite guns and don't need any others. I have 2 gold and the others are all above level 20. I have a level 10 Five Seven Extended Mags on all my classes. (A dream with my Evil Controller)

-I don't want to have to keep unlocking everything again. I don't want to have to use tokens to use my favorite guns. I don't want to use tokens to get my favorite perks. I don't want to have to keep doing the challenges to make them pro.

-The last point is that "It isn't fun staying the same level."
I think it's fun playing with all my gold guns and pro perks. I like getting high killstreaks, I'm working on my 500 & 1,000 AC130 kills.

Tl;dr I think prestiging is lame. I'll be staying at 1st level 80. What are your thoughts on prestiging?

I got to 10th 80 in just under 7 days, staying at a low prestige is boring for me. I'm now working on getting as many titles&emblems as I can. And I really don't think 50% of all high prestigers camp :P

Personally I like prestiging because I've never got to 10th in other games I just stopped. However in MW3 I'm about to be 9th. I stayed at 80 no prestige until I had 2 days more Played and got bored it's really not fun to know your getting xp that would be leveling you and instead your just giving it away.

Example - if you stay at level 80 no prestige eventually you'll hit 10th in xp by playing. But it won't show for it why not let it show.

Bottom Line - With prestige tokens to unlock all your favorite guns everyone should prestige

Nice thread but i perstige because its really easy in MW3 not like in BO (God was that hard just how many xp awww) And after a Time it gets bored to stay at one level and you loosing all xp you gain! And it's also a challange to start with crap weapons :-)

Cake is a lie
I don't think people prestige to "look like they're good."
I don't think people being a higher prestige has shit to do with if someone camps a lot. But of course,we have to have a camping reference in every thread.

Bottomline is most prestige for the emblems, in the past it was custom slots or Gold Guns. And above all because it can be fun and challenging to start over. It can get boring staying same prestige in a game's cycle. IMO MW3 has good reasons to prestige. Unlock Gear allows you to choose what you want to use early which is GREAT. DewXP let you rank up quicker and the pro perks aren't nearly as hard to get or ridiculous as Black Ops so you don't lose much by prestiging.

Prestiging doesn't make you a better player at all and I doubt anyone seriously think it does. I'd assume a 10th guy is better than 0 prestige, lvl 20 only because I'd assume he had to be new to the game. Prestige tells you nothing about how someone plays. The prestige titles aren't all that impressive really.

If I take my current stats from Xbox, I have done one prestige in about 14 Hours. Considering Im 5th prestige means that I play about 2hours of CoD each day, that's not really that much imo. The reason I go prestige is because I get bored of not progressing 'Level-Vide'. My last reason is that there is 12 months until the next title, which means I want the game to last atleast that long.

For me it's a sense of completeness. I know it will never happen, but I'd also like to complete all the challenges after I reach 10th.

Plus, I actually use at least 8 custom classes. Some are variations of one another when I need a stinger.. or blind eye.

And yes, the 10th prestige emblem (with decent stats) signifies "Boss"

I always insta-prestige because once everything is unlocked and I've done my challenges, the game loses a bit of appeal to me. Starting again without the gear and perks you've started to take for granted puts some of the excitement back and makes you sharper.

It comes down to personal preference really, there are some that just like the challenge of prestiging even if it means losing everything you have worked for. To be honest it was not a hard decision for me because from prestige 1-10 I basically only used my Striker and Stinger Happy

10th prestige was MUCH easier in my opinion in MW3 than other games, I think prestiging happened a lot quicker and with unlock gear the challenge became less and less as you could unlock your favourite weapon (for me the striker/stinger combo) and get using it as soon as you reached level 4. When coupled with Specialist you ranked up really fast. I am by no means the fastest at levelling but managed to reach 10th in 6 days 11 hours, that for me was much less than in past COD games.

I do like having the extra custom classes, symbols, titles and emblems, but more because I'm a completionist that likes to have everything I can possibly unlocked. Now that I'm 10th I can sit back and listen to noobs in the pregame lobby going OOO A 10TH PRESTIGE HE MUST BE AWESOME, but as you said, prestiging does not mean skill. It simply means how much you really play and get into the game Winky Winky Not to mention now I mostly just mess around as I'm 10th Happy

Some people like the challenge, others don't, I for one will not be resetting all my stats as the game gives no recognition that you have, so to me is pointless. Others have reset their stats because they can't stand staying on one level forever; personal preference.

Dude.. in MW3, you need 1.7m xp to prestige.
In MW2 that was only 900k
In BO that was only 400k

Don't say it's easier to prestige in MW3, because it is SO much harder compared to the other ames.
